"National Institute of Animal Science opens the future of
livestock research"
Welcome to the website of the National Institute of Animal Science!
Livestock industry in Korea has been growing rapidly through constant efforts
and currently occupies 32.7% of the agricultural production.
However there are still many tasks and challenges to face. We should wisely cope
with the difficulties from opening international markets, rising feed cost, and
threatening malignant diseases. At the same time, we should be able to provide
quality animal products on the table to satisfy the diverse needs of consumers.
NIAS develops the technology for genetic improvement of livestock, good forages
and feedstuff, production of safe and high-quality animal products and
environment-friendly sustainable livestock farming to create a bright future of
livestock industry in Korea. We also undertake biotechnology research to develop
the biomedicine and bio-organs using transgenic animals for human health and
welfare.
We will do our best to provide quick and reliable information about the animal
science and technology and useful research data through our web site.
NIAS has been doing the central role of livestock research in Korea. We promise
to keep on researching with pride and confidence bearing in mind that we exist
